Méribel is the heart of the
Three Valleys with Courchevel
and Val Thorens on either
side. It is the largest skiable area in the world and has over 600 kilometers
of marked pistes, over 200 lifts and skiing up to 3300 meters. The snow
making capacity and grooming of the pistes is second to none, combining
vast experience and the latest technology. Overall, it is an excellent
ski area and offers a wide variety to suit all levels.
Méribel village itself has maintained its alpine charm due to the strict
building regulations insisting that all roofs have double aspect and the
chalets are clad in wood and stone.
Courchevel is the largest valley of the Three Valleys being four separate resorts named by their height – 1850 the highest and chicest – with a wide selection of four star hotels – in differing styles and many designer boutiques to satisfy the discerning shopper; 1650 – the furthest to the east; 1550 just below 1850, & 1300 also known as Le Praz – host to the Olympic Ski Jump in 1992.
The area is conveniently
located for air travellers, with the closest airports being Geneva
(approximately 178 km / 111 miles) in Switzerland
and Lyon (approximately 181
km / 112 miles) in France.
For rail travellers, there is a direct service
from Waterloo to Moutiers, which is approximately 20
minutes from the resort.
Also, the motorway connections are speedy and
efficient and make for easy driving from the UK.
